Survivor's Guilt

I slept eight hours, which is rarely a good sign. One of the few days in which I did not want to get out of bed.

But I did, nevertheless, and I did met all of my adult goals: I got my hair cut, I worked out, I had breakfast and lunch, I attended a weekly gathering, I washed dishes, I practiced Korean, and I successfully completed a math problem. (I still have to do some light readin, but I'm not worried.)

I also added on the task of crafting and then sending one of my famously organized emails. Judging by the responses I got, I guess most people don't do those things. I'm all for writings as a means of expression, but that's just not what most of my emails are about. To each their own, I suppose.

In the midst of grief yesterday, I managed to finish a book of Korean Folk Tales that my mother had first gotten for me when I was ten and that my aunt got for me again just a few years ago. Having watched so many Korean movies and dramas, wild to actually read the source material for Hong Gildong and Jeon Woo Chi.

I'm also enjoying the book on Korean Hanbok more than I thought I would. Fascinating to see how what we consider traditional Korean dress evolved. Perhaps not so surprising how much gisaeng influenced fashion through the ages. Them, and of course the royal court. That combination probably speaks volumes.

After my haircut, I said something to my husband about our daughter's friend's hair. It, like the rest of her, was so stylish. Just one more bit of loss.
