I went to the Farmers Market at Copley, Polcari's, and then Haymarket. My husband met me and we drove home. Mental note: check the Sox schedules next time.
Since coming home, I have made vegetable broth (but I always make vegetable broth), mushroom paste, caramelized onions, roasted garlic, roasted tomatoes, and a very large batch of tomato sauce with the fifteen pounds (or more) of tomatoes that we got at Haymarket. My process is labor-intensive, but it actually makes more sense to make smaller batches more frequently given what that labor is.
We did not buy greens, in large part because we've got a slew of greens at our community garden that we need to attend to. I am not complaining.
I'm aware of how fortunate I am to have this much food and the capacity to cook it. I think my project tomorrow--after the garden--will be to go through the food we have and figure out how long I can stretch it out for. I like to not waste food or buy more than I need, but I also like to not work more than I need to for food.
Weirdly, as I contemplate my abundance, I'm not as hungry as I usually am. Or maybe it's not so weird.
