Getting things done

I had family in town for two weeks, and then I was sick for a few days. I was haunted by the list of to-dos in my journal, but today I took a deep breath and dove in. Now I have only one more action item, and the hardest thing I have to do is craft an introductory email. I can handle this.

There is pretty much no glory in being productive. That's why so many people procrastinate, and that's why self-help authors have to dress up the concept and make people who are productive sound like superheroes. How else will they sell books and the attendant courses and seminars?

Being productive helps you to not feel anxious about *not* having something lingering over you...but then you find you have room to worry about all of the other things that you have no control over. Again, I see why people procrastinate.

Well, I suppose this did give me the mental breathing room I needed to work on my Korean lessons via Mango. That's a real benefit, and I'm grateful. However, it's making me realize how much I want to do math again, and now I'm strategizing around making time for that.

It's always something.
