I am actually writing this post on July 13, but shh, don't tell anyone.
I had a full day with family, and when I got home, my husband and I immediately jumped into domestic things: folding and putting away the laundry, making hummus, making chickpea chocolate chip cookie dough, and washing dishes. And then we were summoned to dinner before we picked up a child from work. Hopefully I can be forgiven.
A little worried about the child with the job. What was a little bit of fun and, I think, a good way to meet people is starting to become toil. Based on what he's told me, I feel confident that it's less because he's a slacker and more because the reality of retail is so grim these days, regardless of what's being sold.
I think I'm supposed to approach this as if this is an opportunity for him to toughen up and see what the real world is like, but he already knows how wanting the real world is. I think I'm supposed to find a way for him to make it better.
