I have one more session of PT next week before I go out of town for a few weeks, but I am officially out of my brace. Hurray! I still have to carry it around just in case, but it's much easier than wearing it.
It was not that long ago that I was in a cast and needed my husband to get me down the stairs (and my sons to spot me in the middle of the night as I hobbled to the bathroom; it could have gone badly if I had seen a mouse). It was a big deal when I could be in a boot, and I was ecstatic when I only needed a brace (as was my SI joint--uneven hips are a real thing).
My orthopedist is both more cautious and more ambitious than my PT--she wants me balancing on the BOSU, and wanted me to do a few more sessions of PT (than my actual therapist did...). But I suspect she'll approve of me not being in the brace as well.
In other news, I am a wee bit sleep-deprived as I was up past eleven filling out some paperwork that someone else had told me they would do twice for me. This person charges me for answering an email, so I was waiting to get a bill for his services. Instead, I got a notice from the courts that I was late with something. Swell! Fortunately, this wasn't hard to fill out--even with a format glitch--but it was a little time-consuming.
I also lobbied with my senators yesterday with the Jewish Earth Alliance, as we do twice every year. It's not hard, but since I'm the person organizing for my state, it's always a little nerve-wracking until we get there.
Finally, I got my back up pair of glasses in the mail yesterday. It was disorienting, and I was worried I'd need to return them, but I adjusted quickly; I think the problem is that my primary pair is so scratched up. Off to the eye shop to get those lenses replaced, then maybe to a store downtown to get one last travel outfit.
Oh right--check this new page out :-) More to say about that later, hopefully before I leave.
