Permission to Take a Break

The PT I needed for my fracture is going very well. MY PT said I was "crushing it", and my orthopedist said I was much better off than she'd thought I would be. The PT was ready to release me yesterday, but the orthopedist wants me to be able to "cut, jump, and run" (I think). My PT wanted to know whether I was doing that in the first place, but then agreed it wasn't a bad goal.

So now I have light plyometric exercises as well as some balance exercises (to say nothing of the workouts I've been doing on my own). I asked yesterday if I should be adding the new exercises to the existing ones, and the PT said that now that I have so many, I should be changing it up so I don't get burnt out, physically, but I also think mentally. And then he said something about doing the exercises one day and then walking the next.

What is this crazy talk? It's almost like he's saying I don't have to do everything all in one day. What? Next thing I know, he'll say something insane, like I should aim for something like 30 minutes, not an hour. But why should I listen to him? He's only a PT who studied therapeutic techniques and practiced for over thirty years. How dare he contradict social media influencers?
